The careful arrangement of lighting throughout the 50,000 square-foot area serves as a striking example of creating ambiance. It turns the 15-meter underground leisure space into a serene and luxurious environment, demonstrating the profound impact of light on experience. The beautifully designed wave-like ceiling vaults in the family swimming pool and the square playful lightboxes in the kids' pool area showcase a thoughtful combination of aesthetics and functionality.
Upon entering the reception area, custom artificial skylights located at the perimeter create the sensation of walking into a naturally lit space. The wide openings of each skylight give the illusion that there could be an actual opening allowing natural light just out of sight. Carefully designed stretch ceiling details in deep coves with variable-white LED sources aid the illusion.
In the Little Space, there are playful lighting elements to engage children and emphasize the importance of physical fitness from an early age. These areas are intentionally brighter for safety and to help create a family-friendly atmosphere. The gym area is lit with suspended linear and circular pendants along with wall sconces to create a bright, yet relaxed environment.
The seamless integration of light sources prioritizes comfort and avoids harshness, allowing the architectural and design elements to stand out. This leisure centre underscores the role of light as an integral part of the spatial narrative, shaping the mood and enhancing the visual appeal of each area.
